Description

This is the first-light image for my AP 130 GT that I upgraded to the 130 GTX with the 3.5" focuser and the Quad TCC reducer flattener.

Although the Elephant Trunk is not a unique target, it is a good test of the new configuration of the AP 130. This is a full-frame image. You can go to the corners and judge the flattness of the image. It's not perfect, but not bad. It's also nice to see how much more quickly this setup gathers photons at f4.5. The seeing conditions were good on the two nights at my location, approximately 1.6-2.0 arcsec. That's about as good as it gets here outside of Chicago.
