Description

M-3 is a large, bright globular cluster in the constellation of Canes Venatici, The Hunting Dogs. It is one of the brightest globular clusters in the northern sky. It lies 33,000 light years from Earth and is 180 light years in diameter. It contains over 500,000 stars. It was discovered by Charles Messier on May 3, 1764.
