Description

Lying near our Galaxy's centre, in Ophiucus, the Pipe nebula is a fascinating sight, a.k.a. Barnard 59, 65–67, and 78. One of the finest dark nebula/regions of the sky. It is visible to the naked eye under dark skies (easily from where I shoot), gracefully filling a small binoculars FOV (7x50). On long exposures, such as this one, more details and nebulisity wisps can be seen. Also note the Snake Nebula (B72) around the area, a beautiful dark snake striking in this field.

I had great surprises while going through this data as the single original subs looked pretty good. My consequent high expectations were fulfilled during processing, and the image, although would benefit from longer (2h+) integration time, with the nebulosity more clearly seen and separated form the distant background stars, I am quite happy with the results.

Processing as usual> File renaming and handling using LR, Calibrated/tacked in DSS, Post-processed in PS CC, with the aid of Nik Collection's Color Efex and Dfine and HLVG plugins. Final touches and exporting back in LR CC.
