Description

30 MINUTE 10 MICRON GM 1000 HPS OAG GUIDED IMAGE OF NGC 7331

After spending months and months of trying unguided images with the 10 Micron GM 1000 HPS, I gave up and went to guiding.

When I purchased the mount I was promised that the mount would do 30 minute unguided images with a 11" Edge HD. I have tried for months and months to achieve unguided images that were of decent quality with a smaller scope, an 8" Edge HD. Getting round stars in 5 minute unguided images was a challenge.

Finally turned the OAG Guider and this is my first 30 minute OAG Guided Sub. I am completely happy. Stars are very very round and the image goes deep to show lots of detail. In viewing the image close up at the pixel level you can see that the mount tracked the images with very high precision and the rate of drift was just larger than 1 pixel over a 30 minute exposure. I fired off several more 30 minute OAG Guided images with all images coming back with beautiful detail and a pixel drift rate of less than 2 pixels in a 30 minute sub.

My 10 Micron Unguided Imaging Migraine Headache is finaly over. If I was told the mount could do 30 minute guided images with perfectly round stars I would have purchased it anyway. Glad I am enjoying the results of this mount and the headache is over.
