Description

The third largest galaxy in the Local Group, Triangulum Galaxy (aka M33) is a spiral galaxy located about 3 million light years away from Earth. Triangulum boasts massive regions of star birth, seen as magenta areas in the image. One such region, NGC 604 (large magenta area top left center of M33), is estimated to be 100 times larger than the Orion Nebula in our own Milky Way, itself a massive stellar nursery.
