Description

The Horse head and Flame Nebulae are a popularly photographed pair of hot gases sitting in Orion's Belt, the brightest star in this image being Alnitak. The Horsehead Nebula gets its name from the unmistakable, horsehead-shaped dark dust in front of it that blocks out the red gas emissions behind it.
