Description

I wanted to show my girlfriend how to take a photo of the milky way during our vacation. So it felt like a throwback tuesday for me. No mount, no tracker, no focussing aids, no automation, no nothing. Just our DSLRs, widefield lenses (I shot at f/2), tripods and some postprocessing. No crazy editing here though. I wanted to keep the colors of the milky way as natural as possible.

At the same time I wanted to show what can be done with this simplicity. Of course it's not the best picture I've taken of the milky way, but I want it to be an inspiration to newcomers and show what's possible with even the simplest gear. Just as other similar photos have inspired me to start with this hobby.

I originally planned on shooting the northern milky way over the ocean but quickly changed my mind when we we found this part of a peninsula where we could shoot the southern milky way.
