Description

M1 has always been one of my favorite objects.  When I first started astrophotography, the first time I opened a framing tool to check the size of my field it loaded M1 by default since it's the first Messier object.  From that moment I knew I eventually wanted a system capable to imaging M1 at relatively high resolution.  It's the target I've most anticipated imaging all these years while I've waited to get into longer focal length imaging.  As a result, I chose it as the first narrowband target for my new setup.  I ran out of time last night gathering narrowband data before M1 disappeared behind a nearby house, so I wasn't able to capture the RGB frames I intended to use to provide star color.  As a result it will be without star color here, but I will eventually capture that and revise this image.  I've very pleased with the detail and quality of the nebula.  The stars show obvious issues from halos/reflections that need to be addressed (hopefully by flipping some filters, possibly by dumping the Antlias) as well as collimation which isn't yet ideal.  After taking this image the scope went back to my garage to have collimation redone now that I have a better setup for the tripod supporting my Hotech Advanced CT collimation device.  I will get that dialed in, tilt in the backplate of the OTA/focuser resolved, etc.
