Description

First shot with the awaited Canon Astro6D, modified with temperature controller. Here the Eastern Veil Nebula

The Veil Nebula (also referred as the Cygnus Loop or Cirrus Nebula) is a supernova remnant from a star that exploded sometimes 5,000 to 10,000 years ago. It is approxymatively located 1,400 to 2,500 light-years away in the Cygnus constellation.

The Veil Nebula includes many portions (remnant of the giant planatary nebula). NGC 6992 (shown here) is the brighter eastern half of the nebula (also known as the Network Nebula).

Other well known part (not on the picture) are NGC 6960, the Witch's Broom nebula (NGC6960) and the Pickering's Triangular Wisp (Simeis 3-188)...

The Veil Nebula was discovered by William Herschel on September 5, 1784
