Description

This is my first attempt at trying to process a mosaic 2 panel. I still need to refine the steps. I may be missing additional steps to seam them together properly in Pixinsight. Actually I was surprised I even managed to get this far into the image itself.

I did find problems when the 2 panels converged that if you look closely the star color changed from panel 2 to panel 1. I thought I had taken steps to prevent this by doing color calibration and background neutralization prior to merging the two panels; but seems that I still had difficulties.

Mosaic 2 panel is Luminance 24 subs 600sec./ Blue 9 subs. 600 sec./Green 16 subs. 600 sec./Red 21 subs. 600 sec. each.

Mosaic 1 panel is Luminance 24 subs. 600 sec./Blue 24 subs. 600 sec. ea./Green 600 sec. ea./Red 16 subs. 600 sec. ea.

I was pleasantly surprised while looking at the image in Photoshop at 600 zoom I counted nearly 18 very small dim galaxies throughout the frame. I imagine some of these to be 100's of million light years away.

Update on final corrected version. I was able to extract more outer detail dust surrounding outside around the nebula and under star alignment I corrected a step and used working mode register/union separate as taught in Harry's Shed tutorials and thus I was able to get mosaic merge near perfectly aligned.

Hopefully this is my final update. On this updated version I went back and ran two more passes of DBE along with background neutralization afterwards. I was looking at the models carefully and liked this result; thus I was able to do a careful stretch in shadows and highlights in Photoshop at 2% and highlights were adjusted at 33%. I may just leave it as is ; although I have not applied any noise reduction at all to the image.
