Description

Great night at the BMAS Observatory Friday night. The image is the Orion Nebula (60 sec exposure) through George's 8" reflector. The image was only 60s exposure on another member's scope. We had to use a 1.25 inch barlow in order to compensate for back focus.

The color of Orion appears redder because my camera has been modified to pick up more hydrogen-alpha light that is given off as red light in nebulae.

I was playing with the color channels to see which was most appealing and which most represents what it would look like with an unmodified camera.

Final Version:

Same image different processing. I had some fun with playing around with photoshop to get the optimal white balance and put the images on one photo to compare. The lower right is the raw image. Which is best?
