Description

Old data, new processing. This is a crop from a stack at F:4. There is a ton of stuff going on in this FOV. What appears, in the background, as knotty, filamentary stuff, is really just a ton of field stars at the faint end.

If you zoom all the way in, at 1:1 you'll see that brighter stars appear to have a blue fringe on one side, and a red fringe on the opposite side. That is real, and is an artifact of the 200 mm lens at near-best focus. Getting best focus generally means equalizing those fringes in the viewer. If you shift focus too far one way or the other, the equal fringes become more lopsided and weighted toward one color or the other.

This is a crop from a drizzle integrated image derived from super-pixel deBayering. So the color information is as accurate as possible.
