Description

NGC 1316 in Fornax is aka Arp 154.  Arp’s catalog lists its peculiarity as “disturbed with interior absorption.”

NGC 1316 and smaller NGC 1317 look like they could be interacting but their estimated distances and relationships are currently too inexact to be sure.

Wikipedia says:
NGC 1316 (also known as Fornax A) is a lenticular galaxy about 60 million light-years away in the constellation Fornax. It is a radio galaxy and at 1400 MHz is the fourth-brightest radio source in the sky.”

There are some “dust doughnuts” visible as the flats were a bit old when these images were captured.
