Description

The Witch Head Nebula, IC 2118, is a faint reflection nebula thought to be a supernova remnant or gas cloud illuminated by the nearby supergiant star Rigel in Orion. It lies just over the border in the Eridanus constellation, about 900 light-years from Earth, and has an apparent magnitude of 13. The nature of the dust particles, reflecting blue light better than red, is a factor in giving the Witch Head its blue color. This is my version of the Witch Head:
