Description

The IC 342 is pretty close to us, but it is heavily veiled by our own galaxy. The galaxy itself may have influenced the development of our local group. IC 342 and Maffei 1 are at the core of the Maffei group.
IC 342 is currently starbursting , so we can hope for some supernovas.

Milky Way's veil seems to be very hungry for blue photons from IC 342. Although we have problems seeing the veiled beauty, the inhabitants of IC342 will have an excellent view of the Milky Way. They see us, almost edge on at only 12MLY

The burst activity of this galaxy is amazing !
