Description

Whist waiting for Orion to come round to enable me to do the last image, my 5 year old son wanted to do a picture. So, with a little guidance, I let him choose something, slew and align the scope and kick off the script to take the images. I then processed the data and this is the result! Not bad for a quick image with not so good but improving seeing conditions.

M74 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation of Pisces. It is at a distance of about 32 million light-years away from Earth and is an example of a grand design spiral galaxy. M74 has low brightness which makes it a difficult object to observe visually.
