Description

Pk80-6.1, better known to all and sundry as "The Egg Nebula" looks nothing like an egg of any description I have known in my life, although that may be because I haven't seen all of them by any stretch of imagination and somewhere in the animal kingdom there is some weird creature that lay eggs just like that. Be as it may, this protoplanetary nebula as been another of bugbear of me, or more specifically, the bow shocks were, those so very well depicted in the Hubble pictures of the same. The first attempt in 2005 didn't get much in that regard, unguided and all. In 2007 I tried it again, this time remembering how weak the structure I was after was using way longer integration times. While a far cry from the Hubble at least some hint of the bow shocks can be seen in the image.
