Description

Yet another favorite object of mine - what's not to love?? It is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty!! ;) I took this photo of Venus Thursday night. There isn't a lot of detail to catch on Venus, as it's cloaked in a very thick atmosphere (mostly CO2) that doesn't allow us to see the surface of the planet like you can with others. In fact, the atmosphere is SO thick that it has an atmospheric pressure similar to being 3,000 feet under water! I still like looking at and imaging Venus - I like how it shows in phases, like our moon does. To take this photo I take a video of about 4,000 frames and use stacking software to select the best 30% of those frames to stack in Autostaakert with 3X drizzle, I balanced the RGB in Registax and sharpened a little in Pixinsight. I used a Celestron 9.25" SCT and a Televue 2X 2" barlow, ZWO ASI120MC-S camera, all riding on an AVX mount.
