Description

Quite an interesting object (and image) for being so small (even at f/6~ish). I noticed something of a similarity between the edge-on dust lanes in 891 and how we see our own Milky Way during the summer months, which is apparently a common note made by many observers of the object from my online searches.

I greatly enjoyed capturing the other faint galaxies in this view as well, something which I had not expected or planned - though it does cause me to look forward to catching parts of the Virgo cluster in a few month's time.

This image was the first of two objects I imaged during the two listed nights. I targeted this galaxy from setup-midnight, then switched to M81 / M82 until morning twilight once NGC 891 got too low on the horizon. Unfortunately during the first night the camera had slid out of the scope slightly, causing a lot of out of focus exposures which had to be thrown out.

Description: Retried with some new NR techniques as well as special care on the star saturation. I feel like I captured the yellows on the stars a little better this time, though the edges of the galaxy seem a tiny bit too blue / green sometimes
