Description

Hallo everybody!

My name is Gianni Pasquali and this is my first contact with Astrobin. I thank Astrobin and his staff for giving me a chance to be here. I live in Cimone, a small village near Trento, North Italy and i'm a furniture's designer. Though i'm 56 years old, I'm a beginner in astrophotography, after decades of sky watching, and i need and i want to learn a lot about it.

The first image i post here is a "no orthodoxy" astrophoto, as you can see even the title is not common for an astrophtography. The meaning of this image composition has to do, as well as an Astronomic Event, also with History and Mithology.

The image shows the 94 minutes time long path of 4179 Toutatis Neo PHasteroid (the line at the top left) while it was leaving the Hyades starcluster close to the star Sao 94002 and not far from the star AIN-Epsilon Tauri (surrounded by Jupiter's light at the top right) and star 75 Tauri (at the bottom center). The idea to connect Astronomy with History and Mithology went when i saw the test frames collected before starting the session. Centering the path of Toutatis in the field of view of the camera sensor, a little more than 3x2 degrees, the dazzling light of Jupiter completely cleared the light of the faint asteroid. So i move the asteroid a bit apart from the center. Even if the Jupiter disk was quite apart from the field of view, however it's light was collected by the sensor, like a cluster of thunderbolts....Connection! ...Jupiter - King of Gods and Thunderbolts of Romans -, Toutatis - King of war of Celts, Roman-Celts War, Hyades - Ninphs of swamps-, every sky object seemed to be in the right place at the right time to get an unusual mixture of human knowledge.

The image is a composition of 30 light frames, 180" each, 3 dark frame, 10 flat field, 10 dark of flat and 10 bias. All frames stacked wit DSS, post processing with PS5 and StarSpikesPro.
