Description

Sharpless 2-240, aka Simeis 147, aka the Spaghetti Nebula is a supernova remnant about 3,000 light-years away located on the border between the constellations of Taurus and Auriga. It's really big (about 36 times the area of the full moon) and extremely faint.

This image is based on a total of 82 hours of data captured from SRO (FSQ106ED/QSI683 3x3 Ha mosaic ) and DSW (Rokinon 135mm/QSI583 HaRGB) between September 2014 and February 2016.

I previously processed a version of this using the wide field Rokinon data as a base. This version is based on the high-res FSQ mosaic and only uses the Rokinon data to provide some colour.
