Description

I was interested to see if one can capture Moon, Jupiter and 4 of Jupiters moons with a single shot without over- or underexposing one of the objects. To my experience almost. I captured this with my Nikon D5200, the Nikkor 55-300mm lens, at 300mm, F=7.1, ISO 400, and 1/100s, which was the best setting to clearly see Jupiters moons and having just small portions at moon surface overexposed. I used a normal photo-tripod (not a rigid astro type). Processing was done in Adobe Lightroom using the radial filter correction at the moon.

The photo was taken shorty after midnight 14th to 15th of March after the minimum distance of 1.8°.

Soon there will be two better opportunities for this constellation on 10th of April and 7th of May, with 1.4° and 1.2°, respectively. Data taken from Kosmos Himmelsjahr 2017.
