Description

Three clear sky nights in a row. Amazing. I went out last night to try and image a comet, either

41P Tuttle in Ursa Major or 45P Honda in Leo. I decided to use my Orion ED80 refractor since it

was already set up on the mount. This was a bad decision because 41P is listed as an 8 magnitude

and 45P is listed at a 9 magnitude. Both comets were located in the direction of light pollution and

I was not able to find the comets with my 80mm scope. The next clear sky I have I will bring out

my 8 Inch Newtonian Astrograph and hopefully the bigger aperture will allow me to see the

comets. As usual I've gotten very wordy. Since I was already pointed toward Leo I decided to

image Leo's Trio because it has been a year since I imaged this object and I've never imaged it

with my ED80 scope. I had a lot of problems with noise and light gradients due to light pollution

that I could not eliminate which is obvious from my image. I could tell that my camera captured a lot of data but unfortunately I'm not competent enough with the processing to bring out that

data and also negate the noise and light gradients issues at the same time. With all that said this is my most recent attempt at imaging Leo's Trio.
