Description

Earth rotates at approx. 900 miles per hour at 39 degrees latitude. The apparent motion of the stars is due to this rotation. By using my Astrotrac to keep the stars still by tracking at the sidereal rate, you can now see the earth moving in this two hour time lapse. One photo was taken every 50 seconds. The photos were then sequenced and played back at 30 frames per second to make this 3 seconds looping gif. Taken from my backyard in Newark, DE. Still testing this new lens. Planning to use it in conjunction with my Sky Quality Meter to do light pollution studies soon!
