Description

This image of IC 342 has been color adjusted back towards "normal" ... it typically appears more orange-red due to the intervening dust of the Milky Way. It is almost lost in the stars of the Milky Way which have been slightly suppressed so we can see the galaxy more easily. There are abundant H-II regions and blue reflection nebulas in the arms. Technical data: RCOS 14.5" f/8 classical cassegrain + QSI 8300 + AstroDon filters. LRGB image ... 1500 seconds X 12, L binned 1 X 1, RGB binned 2 X 2. Taken from my home in Foresthill, CA.
