Another Picture from my Backyard.

M101 with quite some integration time. It is the first time I used the Astronomik CLS CCD filter, to decreases light pollution effects in my Bortle 5/6 area. I am now able to expose quite long without pushing the histogram to far to the right. But I also have to expose quite long now because the filter eats up quite some light, without auto-guiding this seems to be an issue. Details are nice, but I am not happy with the noise yet, especially for this long integration. The stars are also not very good looking. I have to play around with the post-processing and probably have to be much more strict selecting good subs. For now I just feed the batch pre-processing with every light sub I have and see what it selects himself. It is time to start using the subframe selector.

Nevertheless, as always it was fun to shoot. I started using Backyard-EOS which runs nicely on a Surface 3. With Teamviewer I can remote control it from the inside which is very convenient.

Version C:

Used a only slightly stretched image as background. Merged masked via Photoshop. Noise reduction à la Jon Rista. Deconvolution with custom PSF. Color saturation strongly increased. Final sharpening via High Pass in Photoshop.

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
