Description

Testing my new ZWO ASI1600MM-Cool camera…

Nebula NGC 3324 "Gabriela Mistral" (also known as IC 2599) is an emission nebula, an HII region excited by a cluster of open stars (OCL 819) at its center. It is located about 7,200 light years away in the northwest corner of the Eta Carina Nebula (NGC 3372) in the southern constellation of Carina.

Lucila Godoy Alcayaga 7 April 1889 – 10 January 1957), known by her pseudonym "Gabriela Mistral" , was a Chilean poet-diplomat, educator and humanist. In 1945 she became the first Latin American author to receive a Nobel Prize in Literature, "for her lyric poetry which, inspired by powerful emotions, has made her name a symbol of the idealistic aspirations of the entire Latin American world". Some central themes in her poems are nature, betrayal, love, a mother's love, sorrow and recovery, travel, and Latin American identity as formed from a mixture of Native American and European influences. Her portrait also appears on the 5,000 Chilean peso bank note.

NGC 3293 "the cluster of gems" is an open star cluster, and a fairly bright one. Discovered by Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille (or La Caille) on January 25, 1752, during his trip to South Africa, it is located in the constellation of Carina, about 8,400 light-years from us. Astronomers consider it an open cluster, since its small population is actually not too densely distributed.

Carina Nebula, Eta Carinae Nebula or NGC 3372, is a large emission nebula that surrounds several open star clusters. Among these stars are Eta Carinae and HD 93129A, two of the most massive and brightest stars in the Milky Way. The nebula is located at an estimated distance of 6,500 to 10,000 light years from Earth and is located in the constellation Quilla (Carina). This nebula contains several O-type stars. It is one of the largest in the sky and although it is approximately four times larger and brighter than the famous Orion nebula, it is much less known due to its location to the south. It was discovered in 1751 by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille from the Cape of Good Hope.
