Description

Messier 108 - Surfboard Galaxy

This is a barred spiral galaxy in Ursa Major, it is almost edge on when viewed from Earth and is approximately 45,988,000 light years away. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain around 1781.

Taken over 2 night and using 2x binning on the RGB. this complicated processing and I was not as happy with the end result as if I had just used 1x binning mode. Sill The processing in Pixinsight brought it up better than I had expected so in the end I'm relatively pleased with the result.
