Description

M44 - The Beehive Cluster a.k.a. Praesepe. First discovered by Galileo in 1609, this 600-million-year-old open cluster is found in the constellation Cancer, and is one of the closest open clusters to Earth at approximately 577 light-years away. It’s core is composed of at least 1000 gravitationally bound stars, filled with red and blue giants, each with their own planetary systems.
