Description

M104, NGC4594 sort of looks like a Mexican Sombrero - hence the name. A galaxy that is approximately 31 million light years away. It certainly has a quite distinctive appearance with the dark dust lane and glowing shell surrounding the galaxy. I wasn't able to capture a lot of the details that I have seen in other images of this galaxy though. I think that it was a bit of a challenge for the relatively short 630mm focal length of my scope (TAK TSA120 with .7x focal reducer on board). According to Wikipedia it is about 30% of the size of our Milky Way galaxy.
