Description

A bright Planetary for once. NGC 7008 also known as The Fetus Nebula in Cygnus. The only channel shot in astro dark is the OIII, with the RGB shot in darkest parts of Nautical before and after.

Rev A: The RGB

Rev B: The Ha and OIII combined with a false Green at 40% Ha, 60% OIII. RGB stars added.

Tonight is the last night when there is any astro dark for a few months will try to add to this if the cloud gods are favourable.

Added last nights extra subs again the OIII was during astro dark the rest in nautical darkness.

Rev C: RGB with extra frames

Rev D: The new H HO O with RGB stars

Rev E: Re-processed 15th Sept 17. H HO O same blend as Rev B: RGB stars added then extracted a luminance from the image, which is then added back using the LRGB combination process. A LHE process was added to a clone. The Kernel is 16 at a strength of 0.200, this just sharpens the image a touch. The LHE image is blended with the original in pixel maths taking the best bits from both images.

Better colour all round and more details in the Pn IMO.

Description: I think the interesting thing in the image is the second PN designation. PK 093+05.1 the cross hair is misleading here as it's actually the bright area at 10 o'clock inside "The Fetus." It has another designation of PN K 4-44 which is part of Kohoutek's own catalogue. Sadly this is now thought to be just part of NGC 7008's cloud, as written on Simbad's page for the object.
