Description

I had some pretty poor sky last night, thin cloud, so I thought I would try this supernova with a UV filter Astrondon u’2 which I have had success with in these conditions as the cloud does not seen to record on the sensor.

So the result is above, I used bin 2x2 as the light level is low. Bright stars end up with a halo, but that goes for professional equipment as well, see the results from GALEX.

What does this show… the supernova is definitely a lot brighter compared to other stars of similar brightness nearby. It maybe a good filter to pick out fainter supernovae, something to try on others at sometime.
