Description

I continue my quest for finding and processing rarely imaged galaxies in the Liverpool Telescope database.

This is an RGB image of NGC7080, and probably the best image available of this galaxy.

According to Simbad is a HII-galaxy with the co-ordinates 21 30 01.956 +26 43 04.49. No entry for it in the English Wikipedia but according to the Bosnian Wikipedia it is barred spiral galaxy about 222 million light years from Earth in the constellation of Vulpecula. The largest diameter is 117,000 light years. The first discovery was made by Albert Marth in 1863.

Filters and exposures used (all from 2014 07 02 - 2016 09 23):

sdss-r 37 x 90 s (red channel)

Bessell V 16 x 90 s (green channel)

Bessell B 20 x 90 s

sdss-g 10 x 90 s (mixed 33:67 with Bessell B for blue channel)
