Description

I continue my quest for finding and processing rarely imaged galaxies in the Liverpool Telescope database.

This is an RGB image of NGC6632, and probably the best image available of this galaxy so far, although there is a rather good one from the Capella Observatory with some interesting reading:

http://www.capella-observatory.com/ImageHTMLs/Galaxies/NGC6632.htm

No entry for it in the English Wikipedia but according to the Bosnian Wikipedia NGC 6632 (also known as IRAS 18230 + 2730, MCG 5-43-18, PGC 61849 and UGC 11226) is about 219 million light years from the Earth and located in the constellation Hercules. The largest diameter is 191,000 lights years. The first discovery made by Albert Marth in 1864.

Filters and exposures used (from 2014 07 16 - 2016 09 28):

sdss-r 30 x 90 s (red channel)

Bessell V 14 x 90 s (green channel)

Bessell B 23 x 90 s

sdss-g 12 x 90 s (mixed 33:67 with Bessell B for blue channel)

The blue shine at the bottom is caused by a bright star just outside the image
