Description

These are two of my measurements of the milky way spiral arms seen in the frequency domain

as doppler -shift of the H - line rest frequency 1.4204 GHz

A description of my Radio Telescope is here :

P.S.

A photon is emitted at exact 1.4204 GHz or 21.1 cm wavelength if a Hydrogen proton and the surrounding electron flip from parallel to anti - parallel spin.

The transition propability is only 1 in 10 million, however the interstellar medium is full of hydrogen

especially within the spiral arms of galaxies.

Systematic measurements of the milky way spiral arms started after WW2 in the Netherlands
