Description

The field in this image is from the constellation of Cygnus. IC 1311 is the designation for a star cluster with nebulosity. The main core of the cluster is a small dense knot of stars just out of the field of view of this image. The general region is rich with hydrogen emission as evidenced by the nebulosity. The cluster is located approximately 4,000 light years from Earth. This is a composite image of SHO and HOO images combined to highlight certain potions on the nebulous area.
