Description

The Veil Nebula is a cosmic debris from a massive star who went supernova. It is located approximately 2,400 light-years away from Earth in the constellation Cygnus, the Swan.

I've started a habit of traveling to a nearby darker site (Bortle 4) around new moons with some fellow astrophotographers. My work on the Veil started last month, but I was not satisfied by the stars, especially around the corners. I thought it was spacing at first, but changes to that didn't reflect in a logical way.

Finally, after taking apart my imaging train a hundred times, I noticed a sound coming from the reducer when I shake it. I took it apart and reseated the lenses, which finally (years later) solved my problem. I still have a bad corner, but that travels with me from scope to scope, I guess it is the camera sensor. The data for this image were captured a new moon later, after solving the issue.
