Description

SH2-124, located approximately 8500 light years away in the constellation Cygnus...and thats it. There is so little out there on this object I cant really tell you much more. It is a very faint object with good data in all three narrow band channels. It is pictured in sky atlas' as just a faint patch only highlighting the brighter circular nebulosity and ignoring the outer, very faint, shell gases.

I did notice a planetary nebula in the lower left of the image which at first I thought was a dust spec. After investigating that this "dust" spot only showed up in Ha and OIII I assumed I had a celestial object in the frame. After much research I found a paper, the same paper that announced the discovery of OU4 the squid nebula. This is a planetary nebula that is listed at a magnitude of 21.64 and is only visible in Ha and OIII. Very similar to the more famous soap bubble near the Crescent nebula. It was fun investigsting this object and for a few fleeting moments thought I may have discovered something  new! I have cropped and added an image of the bubble as a revision.

Thanks for looking

Dan.
