Description

NGC 1532 and its partner the amorphous dwarf galaxy NGC 1531 are a pair of interacting galaxies in the constellation Eridanus approximately 50 million light-years away! NGC 1532 is also known as Haley's Coronet an edge-on barred spiral galaxy discovered by James Dunlop in 1826. Its diameter is estimated to be around 210,000 light-years which would make it twice as wide as our Milky Way.
