Description

Inside Auriga

Credit: Giuseppe Donatiello

A portion of the sky in the heart of the constellation Auriga, combining images obtained in the last three years with 200mm telephoto lenses.

The open cluster M38 is at the top left, under the open cluster C 0524 + 343 immersed in a small cloud of ionized hydrogen. Almost in the center, the IC 410 nebula in which the open cluster NGC1893 is immersed. To the right, the IC405 nebula associated with the star AE Aurigae. This star is animated by a lot of high proper motion and appears to have originated from the Orion Nebula. It was probably in a tight binary system and literally slammed, at great speed, when the major star exploded as a supernova.

Lenses: Pentacon MC 200/4, Raynox Polaris 70-230, Bushnell 200/3.5 on DSLR

Mounts: Avalon Instruments M-Zero Fast Reverse

Guiding telescope: (DIY) Achro 80/400
