Description

The Gabriela Mistral nebula (in the center of image) is an emission nebula located at 7500 light-years in the constellation of Carina. It takes that name because its shape resembles the profile of the Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral, Nobel prize of Literature in 1945.

On the upper part of the image and a little to the right open cluster NGC 3293 is visible. It has more than a hundred stars, mainly young, hot and blue. Some old and cooler stars are also part of this cluster. An example is the reddish star that can be seen among the blue ones. On bottom-left part of the image, a portion of the Eta Carina Nebula is visible.
