Description

My first Cometary Globule "birthday candle" to celebrate 1 year in astrophotography. Imaged in 9.4hrs all last night.

Just west of the #PrawnNebula lies the #OpenCluster of OB type stars, #NGC6231 (not pictured).

Forces from the #stars in this cluster are making themselves known in the nebulosity lying 100 light years away (about a full field of view "above" the field shown), shoving the mostly hydrogen gas and dust away in streams resembling the tail of a comet, or in this case, a dark tower.

100 light years!

Check out the reflection nebulae inside the tower.

Didn't even try to remove the haloes, apparently I'm needing to save up for a different set of filters. If it were only my real birthday haha!

Nebulosity is a HOO/RGB blend

Stars are HaRGB

Update 21/6/20

Nebulosity now LRGBH(S)OO, with added exposure in RGB, Oiii and the inclusion of Sii.

Ha 20x 600s

Oiii 20x 600s

Sii 28x 600s

R 25x 300s

G 25x 300s

B 25x 300s

Luminance created from an SHO version.
