Description

NGC 5078 is a 11th magnitude Spiral Galaxy appearing in the constellation Hydra, which is 99 million light years from our solar system. NGC 5078 appears roughly 2.6 x 0.6 arcminutes in size, corresponding to a physical diameter of 74,000 light years.

NGC 5051 is a 13th magnitude Spiral Galaxy appearing in the same constellation which is 260 million light years from our solar system. NGC 5051 appears roughly 1.7 x 0.7 arcminutes in size, corresponding to a physical diameter of 126,000 light years.

IC 4222 is visually very close to NGC 5078 (also shown), which is a 14th magnitude Spiral Galaxy . It is 102 million light years from our solar system. It appears roughly 0.8 x 0.3 arcminutes in size, corresponding to a physical diameter of 24659 light years.
