Description

Nestled just to the west of Tarazed (Gamma Aquilae) are the dark nebulae Barnard 142 and 143 that are silhouetted against the bright background of the Milky Way, composed of a myriad stars.

Many of the stars in and around the nebula are significantly reddened by the dust and gas along our line of sight that forms an "E" shape to our eyes, and there are hints of extended thinner dust that extends away from the main nebula that are revealed by subtle hue change in the background stars.
