Description

Another trial with the 2x Powermate setup. For this, I targeted a more luminant region of the sky, and ... I have to admit ... it just fit perfectly into my other targets that I planned for the night. Just a bit over an hour when darkness settled in until the trees blocked further imaging, and then up to the next galaxy target, we have galaxy season for a reason in Spring 😊.

I am usually distracted by brighter and bigger stars in almost any other image, but this area just screams to leave them as they come in 😊. Especially at 1850 mm, that would have been anyway a monster task to make them a bit smaller.

I did not shoot any narrowband data either, which is very common for this target. First, I wanted to see what pure LRGB will provide, and second ... well ... more due to the limitation of having an f/14 setup, so this came "naturally". I just cannot imagine that I would have gotten enough signal. On the other hand, I already decided to try narrowband with this setup in the future, and maybe next Winter I can add some of those to this image.

Only barely above 5 hours in total, for that I think it looks pretty nice. There is a certain crispness missing, probably due to this fact and that there are no Hα or OIII data added, those narrowband data usually help in this regard tremendously.

Still a few more images left to process with the 2x Powermate setup, I am more and more happy about the results 😊😊!

Title: Michael's narrowband image star aligned with my previously obtained one

Description: Michael Mangieri passed me quite a while ago his images of the same area, a set of pre-processed SHO files and raw stacked images of the RGB channels. This and the next 2 images are my trials on his set plus a combination of his RGB stars for my image, since mine were quite distorted.
THANKS Michael!!

Title: My original image with Michael's RGB stars

Description: Thanks to Michael I could replace my (bad) stars with the (good 😊) ones that Michael provided me!
The overlay shows Michael's SHO image, how cool is this area!
Big thanks Michael!
