Description

IC1838, aka the Butterfly Nebula (one of at least two so named objects), is part of the hydrogen-rich Cygnus area or Sadr region, about 5000 light years away.

The image was taken with Ha, OIII, SII, as well as RGB. Starnet++ was used to remove the stars from the combined SHO image, as well as extract stars from the RGB combined image, then Pixelmath used to merge in the RGB stars with the starless SHO image.

~10 hours of SHO acquisition; .75 hour for RGB star acquisition.
