Description

Third times the charm for clear nights here on the coast. Just wonderful for 3 nights in a row. Feels so good! I was finally able to image SH2-101. I've had my eye on this emission region since last year. Some of the images on the interwebs are just astounding so I wanted to give it a try and do my take with my humble gear. This region didn't clear the treeline till just after 11 p.m. and I then went all night till 3:30 a.m. just before first daylight started creeping in and was able to capture about 2 and a half hours here. The only real issue I had was some slight wind gusts that ruined a few exposures but it was a small price to pay and well worth losing some sleep over. A great way to welcome in Summer!

Once again this TeleVue universal Paracorr is working very well with my AT8IN. It's not perfect but is doing much much better than the last Coma Corrector I had which caused badly deformed stars in the corners and much frustration. I had adjusted the clips and even siliconed the mirror to the cell so no pinched optic issues could be the culprit. It had me thinking the mirror was bad at one point. So glad this was not the case. Live and learn every time I image these days.

This is 40 300 second lights, 20 darks and 20 bias frames @ iso 800 stacked in DSS using Median/Mosaic method with in camera WB using my Hutech modded T5i. I did a basic edit in DSS and then took the saved TIFF into Adobe camera RAW for some final tweeking.

Please let me know your thoughts on the final outcome. I do appreciate the honesty and it really helps me to get better at this craft. Happy Summer nights people of Earth. Look up!
