Description

NGC1333 is a reflection nebula located in the direction of the Constellation Perseus only around 1,000 Light-Years distant. It is a dusty region with young stars (many less than a million years old), young by stellar standards. The blue dusty area is lighted by a young star which seems to have cleared out an area which reflects the blue light, and many of the stars are imbedded in dust from which they formed emitting jets and stellar winds which redden the surrounding dust clouds. Many of the young stars are still hidden in the thick dust. Thirty to forty brown dwarfs have been detected in the area. Imaged with a 12.5" RCOS Truss telescope on a robotic ME mount, using an SBIG STL6303E camera, guided with an off-axis guider equipped with an SBIG RGH guide camera. The image is LRGB:480:130:90:190 taken from Fort Davis, TX, Oct. 2012-Jan. 2013 using Tru-Balance LRGB 2" filters.
