Description

This object is a bright mag 5.0 globular cluster located in the constellation of Ophiuchus ("serpent-bearer") at a declination of -4 degrees.  It is 15 arc-minutes wide and 13,000 light years from earth, which corresponds to an actual diameter of 60 light years.

M10 contains about 100,000 stars. Note the dominance of bluish stars in the lower half of the cluster, which has no explanation at this time.
