Description

This object is a globular star cluster located in the southern constellation of Scorpius. It contains over 200,000 stars and lies at a distance of 32,600 light years from Earth. This cluster is one of the most densely populated globular clusters in our galaxy, such that that the stars in the core of this image are not fully resolvable but merge into a bright white mass.
